My Baby Got A New Toy

My husband has had a dream since he was nine years old.  Well, he's had many (like throwing a football with Brett Favre) but he's had one in particular about a certain sort of man-toy.  As long as I've known him, he's dreamt of owning a Harley Davidson.

And now he does.

The boy is VERY happy!  And I say boy because he has been acting like a little kid at Christmas since he got it.  It's wonderful to see him so enthusiastic about something he's wanted for so long.  He worked his bootie off, saved his money...and made his dream come true.  I think that's inspiring.  Life often gets in the way of things like this, but my husband is nothing if not determined.

I talked him out of the motorcycle jacket with the flames on it.   Yes, I said flames!  I'm very supportive about this motorcycle dream, but I cannot get behind a jacket with flames up the sleeves.  I'm terrified for his safety, but I'm trying not to think about that and just be a badass motorcycle chic.  Trying very hard.

Maybe there will be some pictures of the badass motorcycle chic soon.

Day of Birth.

Yesterday this little girl turned 29.

It was a magical day.
All morning spent at the spa with my favorite lady.  Playful afternoon, homemade cake and a special dinner with my best friend and true love.

I thought I wanted an old fashioned birthday party...but what I've realized in my "wiser" age is that simply time spent with those that you're closest to is the perfect way to celebrate your birthday.

Baking and drinking mid-afternoon is the only way to make a birthday cake!

Here's to an amazing year ahead.

XO,
the child of 29 years

Wedding Wednesday - Shower Time

There are a few factors at play that are inspiring me this afternoon.

My best friend is getting married.  My other "best friends" just came out with a new movie.  I didn't love the movie, but it did leave me feeling inspired to throw a Moroccan themed bridal shower.

How fun would this be?  Sitting among big fluffy pillows surrounded by handsome men serving you delish food and drinks?  Ok.  Sign me up.

Here's my translation from movie magic to Bridal Shower....

It's warm, inviting, fun and fresh.  It's the perfect party for a wonderful Bride.

So. Much. To. Say.

I'm back.  Man, it's good to be back.  There have been some major happenings and I have not had much time to keep up.  So here we go.

I quit my job.
I'm starting a new and very exciting project.
My baby got a bike.
We went to Dallas.  I bought cowboy boots.  They rock.
It's wedding season.

More posts coming...can't wait to elaborate on all of it.

XO

Mama Yo

There is not a day that goes by when I do not think about how lucky I am to have this woman in my life.  On a day like today, I thought I'd share a few reasons why...(ok, more than a few but I just couldn't stop)

She is a pillar of strength.
She is a ray of sunshine.
She cannot go anywhere without making a friend.
She'll talk to anyone... anywhere.
She is an incredible cook.
She has tiny little hands that are so sweet and nice to hold.
She still plays with my hair.
She taught me to be an independent, strong willed woman.
She gave me wings to fly.
Everything I know about spending two weeks on a houseboat, I learned from her.
She is brave beyond belief.
She could grow a garden out of an inch of dirt.
She has a lovely singing voice.
She taught me how to accessorize.
She folded 800 paper cranes for our wedding.
She loves unconditionally.
She lets me call and talk about my problems and life incessantly.
She gives the best advice.
She visits often.
She loves movie dates.
She loves to binge on chips and french onion dip.
She is thoughtful beyond belief.
She is an incredible Nana.
She'd go to the ends of the Earth for someone she loves.
She taught me to Go. Be. Do.

Happy Mother's Day to the most special lady in my life.

got milk?

If you live in LA, and you have not been to MILK on beverly boulevard, you need to GO immediately.

It's one of my fav. places in the city.  It has this wonderful, yet modern, true ice cream parlor feeling to it.  And there are so many options of deliciousness that you can go back time and time again and try something different every time.

You can have something traditional like a few scoops of housemade ice cream.  Or maybe you're in the mood for a homemade drumstick.  No?  Ok, then you must try the macaroon ice cream sandwich.  I'm not kidding that actually exists.  In fact, scratch everything else and just get that.

GO to MILK, it does a body good.

new DO.

I cut off most of my hair tonight.  I feel lighter, liberated, youthful and spritely.  (is that a word?  I just made it one.)

Self portrait on iphoto.

Me thinks this new do just might equal new ME.  Wait and see.  Feeling very inspired to make some changes.
